Sunday, December 17 (12-4p)

Learn to rough out, shape, sand, and hang your own wooden pendant using a dremel or flex-shaft carver.

This workshop is a perfect introduction to one of many applications for power carving, and requires zero prior knowledge in woodworking. In this class you will learn how to take a design from a simple sketch to a finished piece of carved jewelry using power tools. Audon/Farcee Bell will show you how to saw, shape, and sand a pendant out of a small block of wood.

Throughout the process you will learn the basics of wood identification and selection, how to design a durable and comfortable piece, the fundamentals of sandpaper and hand sanding for a flawless finish, as well as how to select a finish that is appropriate for the application. You will receive a list of resources, recommendations, and information at the end of this class.

Class limited to three participants, ages 18+

A woodturner by trade, Audon/Farcee is a genderqueer craftsperson and artist with a wide range of experience in working with a variety of mediums, everything from rejected lumber scraps to resin-infused carrots. The act of revealing things from otherwise-rejected and unexpected things is at the heart of her work. Audon/Farcee teaches classes at Makerspace NYC and Bien Hecho Academy in Brooklyn.

If we cancel, we will refund you in full and notify you. You may cancel and get a full refund up to three days before the class. After that, refunds are contingent on us being able to fill your seat.
